Medicine Session Preparation Group Experience

A virtual drop-in group for folx prescribed for at-home ketamine use, to add intentionality and group magic into their journeys.

Every other Tuesday | 6:30–8:00 PM EST | Virtual | Drop-in | $60 or $180 package of 4

Cultivating fertile conditions for a generative psychedelic medicine journey is the north star of ketamine-assisted psychotherapy.

The medicine is only part of the equation. What you bring to it — your intention, your preparation, your willingness to meet your inner healer — supports what the journey can offer you.

Building a rich set and setting can be hard at home alone. Even if you are prepared to take the medicine alone, it can be difficult to curate the right mindset, settle into the body, and awakening your healing intelligence for your medicine journey conversation.

What This Group Is

Each session we use the richness of the group experience to breathe together, curate your intentions, and awaken your inner healing intelligence for your medicine journey.

And then we get offline — and you do your solo, at-home medicine session.

Ideally, participants will use Tuesday night to do their medicine journey immediately following the group preparation, while the work is still alive in the body. The group will leave you ideally prepared.

That said, the group can also be used to prepare for and build intentions for a medicine session you will do later in the week — whenever your timing works best.

Why Preparation Matters

A medicine session without preparation can end up being random. Maybe nice random, maybe weird random, but rarely is completely random the aim heading into a thoughtful medicine journey being used as a tool in a larger therapy process.

Preparation does several things. It focuses the mind on the intention you are bringing into the session — which dramatically increases the likelihood that the medicine will take you somewhere relevant rather than somewhere merely interesting. It primes the body for the work. It creates set and setting from the inside out.

The group adds something that solo preparation cannot. Breathing together, holding intention together, being witnessed in the act of preparing — these create a collective container that each individual journey benefits from, even once everyone goes offline.

You will do your journey alone. You will not have prepared alone.

A Note on the Medicine

While this group could ostensibly be used to prepare for a psilocybin, MDMA, or other psychedelic journey, the truth is the medicines are different enough that intention setting is best when medicine-specific.

As an example, because of the dissociative component unique to ketamine, we will always be preparing to leverage the available observing ego — the part of you that remains lucid and self-aware during the journey, capable of directing, questioning, and engaging with what the medicine brings up. That is a specific and powerful feature of ketamine, and our preparation will actively cultivate, for the journey, and for later integration.

Who This Group Is For

This group is for folx who are already approved for and comfortable with unmonitored at-home ketamine use.

If you are not yet set up with ketamine-assisted psychotherapy and are interested, reach out. I can help connect you with KAP prescribers, therapists, groups, resources, and retreats — and we can figure out together what the right entry point is for you.

This is a drop-in group, which means you do not need to commit to a series. Come when you have a medicine session coming up and want to prepare well. Come regularly if the preparation becomes part of your practice. Come once and see what it offers.
