Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is an emerging practice in our field, for outpatient psychotherapists, but also with theme specific groups, like hospice care and others facing medical crisis, trauma survivors, various diagnoses including depression, anxiety, OCD and addiction.

For clinicians interested in learning more about psychedelic assisted psychotherapy, this will provide an essential overview. Participants will learn how to support their clients doing work with ketamine in other settings, or for those interested, you will learn the steps for onboarding your practice.

About the Speakers

Karen and Sophia co-coordinate a unique training practicum program to educate psychotherapists interested in preparing themselves, their clients and their practices for KAP, as well as offer ketamine-assisted psychotherapy journeys for clinicians interested in exploring this medicine and this possible work. Both provide KAP to client as well as run group psychotherapy practices offering KAP.

Course Objectives

At the conclusion of this training, participants will be able to:

1. Assess types of clients, diagnosis, themes, clinical impasses, etc. that are well suited to KAP, as compared to other psychedelics, and various other psychotherapeutic approaches.
2. Develop familiarity with the various components of KAP, including client preparation, the medicine sessions and material integration, and common terms such as set, setting and inner healer.
3. Identify the major steps, overview of the concrete professional requirements, and skill essentials to practice KAP and prepare oneself, practice, and clients for the work.
